Highland Park Run FAQ’s & Contact

Are dogs or strollers allowed? What if the race is canceled? Find the answers to these questions and more below.

Live Event FAQs

Where can I check to see if I'm registered?

You can check online.

How do I update my registration info?

All changes to your registration, besides the runner’s name, can be made free of charge. Simply log in to your Enmotive account to change it. Instructions on accessing/creating your account.

Can I transfer my registration (bib) to another person?

To Transfer Your Registration to Another Runner:

  1. The original runner must log into their Enmotive account and scroll down to find their existing race registration under “Current and Upcoming Events.”
  2. Click the blue “Actions” button to the right of the race name, and then “Transfer Registration.”
  3. Enter the new runner’s email address to begin the transfer process.
  4. The new runner will then receive an email from Enmotive with a link to complete the transfer.
  5. After clicking the transfer link in the Enmotive email, scroll down to click the green “Accept transfer” button.
  6. Complete the registration process, and pay the $10 transfer fee.
  7. Once completed, the new runner will receive an email confirmation, and the original runner will receive an email confirming their registration has been cancelled.

If the transaction is not completed by the new runner within 48 hours of the email sent, the transfer request is cancelled, and the registration will remain in the original runner’s name.

Can I move up or down a category?

Yes. You may switch from one race to another as long as the race that you’re switching to isn’t already sold out.

  1. To do so, simply log into your account (you may need to reset your password first).
  2. Once you’re logged in, you’ll see your upcoming race on the right-hand side of the screen.
  3. Click “View registration.” You’ll see your current race distance under “Category.”
  4. Just click “Edit,” choose the distance you’d like to switch to.
  5. You’ll be prompted to review the rest of your registration, and re-sign the waiver for the new distance.

If you’re switching up to the full marathon, then you’ll be required to pay the difference in price. We don’t offer refunds for the difference in price when switching down to the 5k. Instructions on accessing/creating your Enmotive account.

Can I transfer to another race?

Update to Yes! You can transfer to another Run This Town event, simply follow these steps:

  1. Log into your Enmotive account and scroll down to find your race registration under “Current and Upcoming Events.”
  2. Click the blue “Actions” button to the right of the race name, and then “Defer to Another Event.”
  3. Locate your desired event location in the dropdown menu, then click ‘Search.’
  4. From there, click your desired race category, then follow the onscreen prompts. Once you complete payment, you’re all set and your new registration will appear in your account!

All event transfers incur a $10 fee plus the cost difference of the new race category you choose. If your new event category is cheaper than your current category, you will not be refunded the difference in cost.

What is your refund policy?

No refunds under any circumstances, including event cancellation or postponement. We spend all the money we receive from runners on preparing for each event in advance, from buying all the shirts and medals to paying for business operations, including our employees’ salaries. This means that if an event is canceled or postponed because of weather, pandemics, or other forces beyond our control, we won’t be able to provide refunds. In these rare situations, we’ll convert the race to a virtual one and mail you your full race goodie bag.

Can I add packet mailing after I register?

Yes, you can add packet mailing after you register up to 3 weeks prior to race day. To add packet mailing after you have registered:

  • Login to your EnMotive account.
  • Once logged in, click Registrations on the black toolbar on the left
  • Click the three dots in the upper right corner of your registration and select ‘View Registration’
  • Scroll down and select Packet Mailing and add to your registration

Can I change my shirt size?

Yes, you can change your size after you register. To change sizes:

  • Login to your EnMotive account.
  • Once logged in, click Registrations on the black toolbar on the left
  • Click the three dots in the upper right corner of your registration and select ‘View Registration’
  • Click edit next to products and make your selection.

Can I register on race day?

No, race day registration will not be available.

Can someone else pick up my packet for me?

Yes! If someone is picking up your packet, please ensure they have either your confirmation email or a picture of your photo ID (a picture on your phone works great!).

When and where is the race?

5K: 7:00 a.m.
Half Marathon: 7:30 a.m.
1-Mile Walk: 7:45 a.m.

All three distances will start on St. Johns and Central Ave.

Where is parking?

Parking will be available for participants in the Metra Lots and Downtown Highland Park around the start/finish area. Please DO NOT park in private lots and avoid parking between St. Johns on the West, Elm Place on the North, Linden on the East and Central on the South.

Can I participate with a stroller/scooter/bike?

The use of wheeled devices by participants is limited to approved AWD wheelchair, handcycle and duo team participants only. Strollers, skateboards, rollerblades, unauthorized bicycles or any other wheeled devices are not permitted.

To ensure the safety of all participants, athletes requiring additional support (wheelchair, handcycle, crutches or guide) must adhere to the Ventures Endurance Athletes With Disabilities Event Rules found here and receive written approval from the Race Director, no less than 21 days in advance of the event.

Can I run with my dog?

No, we do not allow dogs on course for the safety of our runners.

Will there be pacers?

Fleet Feet Training x Chicago Endurance Sports will be providing pacers for the half marathon. Pacers can be found in the start corrals and will be holding a sign with their goal finish pace.

Pacers will be provided for following finish times: 1:30, 1:40, 1:45, 1:50, 2:00, 2:10, 2:20, 2:30, 2:45 R/W, 3:00 R/W, 3:30 R/W.

*Note: Joining with a pacer does not supersede your corral assignment.

Is there an age limit?

Runners must be at least 5 years of age to walk in the 1 Mile, 8 years of age or older to run the 5K, and 14 years of age or older to run the half marathon. There is no age limit for the 1-Mile Walk.

Can I check in my gear?

Yes, there will be gear check the morning of the event.

How do I get my free race photos?

We will have professional photographers on the course and at the finish line taking pictures. We will send notifications to all participants immediately after the event with instructions on how to access your free race photos.

What are the AWD (athletes with disabilities) guidelines and event rules?

Ventures Endurance happily welcomes all athletes to participate in our events. Athletes with Disabilities (AWD) include, but are not limited to the flowing athletes, Blade Runners, Visually Impaired Runners, Adaptive / Guided Runners, Pushed Athletes, Push Rim, Racing Chair and Hand Cycles.

To participate as an AWD athlete you must notify the Race Director of your participation a minimum of 20 days in advance. This allows our staff to ensure the safety and security of each athlete on the course prepare the ES (early starters) corral for athletes. To ensure your spot and be approved as an AWD participant please contact awd@venturesendurance.com. Should there be a duo team, a coupon code may be provided for the pusher/coach by emailing awd@venturesendurance.com.

Virtual Event FAQs

Where can I run/walk?

Anywhere! This is your virtual run, and we want you to complete it wherever and whenever you want between TBD. Sidewalks, trails, and treadmills are all fair game. Want to make this a family run or walk with a stroller or your miniature schnauzer Sprinkles? Now’s the chance! Make the race you want.

What items are included with the Highland Park Virtual Run?

The Highland Park Virtual Run includes a commemorative short sleeve tech tee and medal, plus a virtual bib!

When do I need to complete my run?

You can complete your run anytime between TBD. Once you complete your run, you can log your results online. After that, you can download your Finisher’s Certificate, see how you rank on our active leaderboard, and upload photos to share with fellow participants. To receive a Finisher’s Certificate, your run must be completed and logged by TBD.

How do I track my distance and time?

For the Virtual Run, we accept results on the honor system, but the most accurate tracking is typically via a device with GPS tracking.

How do I log my results?

After you’ve completed your run, click the Log Result button on your Virtual Run registration to enter your time. Once you’ve entered your run time, click the Finisher Certificate button to download your personalized Finisher Certificate.

When will my packet ship?

Race packets for the virtual run will begin to ship within 1-2 weeks of the live event.

Do I need to submit results to get a medal?

No. Your medal will be mailed to you with your packet after you register!

Do you ship internationally?

The Highland Park Virtual Run is currently available only for addresses within the United States, including Alaska and Hawaii*.

*Shipments to Alaska and Hawaii will incur an additional shipping fee.

What do I do if my goodie bag doesn’t fit? Can I swap it?

We do not offer any size exchanges post packet shipment. All changes to sizes need to be made prior to confirming registration. We highly recommend that all participants take care to view the sizing chart to order the correct size.
